Key Light
What is Key Light?
The key light is the primary and most important light source in photography, typically positioned to illuminate the subject. It establishes the main lighting direction, highlights the subject's features, and sets the overall mood of the photo. The key light helps create depth, shape, and dimension in the subject by casting shadows. It is crucial in controlling the contrast and brightness of the image. Common setups include placing the key light in front, to the side, or above the subject for different effects.
